Affiliate with the CenterThe Center for Native American and Indigenous Research (CNAIR) is Northwestern University’s primary institutional space dedicated to advancing scholarship, teaching, learning, and artistic or cultural practices related to Native American and Indigenous communities, priorities, histories, and lifeways. We operate as a hub for multidisciplinary, collaborative work informed by and responsive to Native American and Indigenous nations, communities, and organizations. CNAIR develops and promotes reciprocal and sovereignty affirming relationships and partnerships with Native American and Indigenous peoples and organizations.

If you’d like to take a more active role in the interdisciplinary community facilitated by the center, please consider becoming a CNAIR affiliate. Affiliation with CNAIR is inclusive and extended to all who aim to advance the mission and development of the center. Affiliates are expected to actively participate in center-sponsored activities including seminars, symposia, recruiting new faculty and students, and project development; and exhibit an enthusiasm and willingness to work and provide leadership.
There are many benefits to being a CNAIR affiliate including: (1) funding opportunities for new collaborative research, (2) regular announcements about Native American and Indigenous events and news, (3) networking opportunities with other affiliates in the CNAIR research hub areas, (4) administrative support for new projects and proposal development, (5) research opportunities for undergraduates and (6) the opportunity to be featured on the CNAIR website, annual report, and other promotional materials.
