Doug Kiel appointed to Illinois Holocaust and Genocide Commission

Appointed by Governor JB Pritzker, Kiel and other commission members will provide guidance on genocide education and commemoration across Illinois. Kiel is a citizen of the Oneida Nation whose research and teaching focus on Native American history, with particular interests in the Great Lakes region and 20th century Indigenous nation rebuilding. Kiel is Assistant Professor in History and the Kaplan Humanities Institute, and is affiliated with the Center for Native American and Indigenous Research.
