CNAIR affiliates help change the narrative at The Field Museum
November 2, 2018
An important part of the work the Center for Native American and Indigenous Research (CNAIR) does is collaborative work that is informed by and responsive to Native American and Indigenous nations, communities, and organizations. CNAIR affiliates Doug Kiel, Patty Loew, and Eli Suzukovich III are delivering the mission by providing leadership to the community with projects at The Field Museum.
Patty Loew, one of the Center's co-directors, and Doug Kiel, Assistant Professor for the Department of History and Alice Kaplan Institute for the Humanities, serve as members of the advisory board. Eli Suzukovich III, lecturer for the Environmental Policy and Culture Program, also works as a research scientist for the Integrative Research Center at The Field Museum of Natural History.
Several local media outlets such as NPR (WBEZ, Chicago) and The Chicago Tribune recently covered the changes happening to the Native North American Hall. The Field Museum issued a press release stating the hall is targeted to open in 2021.
